“I am a designer who simply wants to make casual but cool, infinitely wearable clothes. I incorporate a minimalist approach with a muted pallet in my designs and personal style with clean lines and silhouettes. I tend to like the most basic pieces as long as they are made with the perfect fabric and provide the best fit. Comfort and sleekness are everything to me. I also attempt to make my pieces interchangeable between seasons when designing. I love to travel and this love for it has made me realize that you do not need to follow usual fashion seasons. There is always a different season somewhere in world. Fashion is global, I design pieces that you can wear during any season, whether my clients are in Brazil, which is where I am from or in Canada where I am based now, you just have to layer or style it differently.” – Melissa Araujo
Black Leather Jacket (JNBY): I believe every girl should own a real leather jacket, no matter if it was thrifted or from Rick Owens. The coolness factor and the ability to dress it up or down is perfect.
Bamboo Jersey Basic Over-sized Tank (Melissa Araujo’s new collection): I love wearing an over-sized basic tank that is made of bamboo jersey, one that can be worn by a girl or a guy, androgynous looks are important to me as I love to implement menswear into my styling.
Matte Leggings (American Apparel): My number one go-to for bottoms are leggings (one day I hope to find the perfect leather pants).
Leather Bag that is both functional and beautiful (Alexander Wang Marion Bag): My bags are usually shoulder strap leather bags; this Alexander Wang is my go-to and is beautiful and practical.
A pair of flat ankle leather boots (Vintage): I’m always on the go so I need flats more than high heels, these ankle boots they are always in style no matter the season or trend and I have them forever.
Sunnies (Ray-Ban Wayfarer): My Sunnies are a signature to my look; I don’t leave the house without them.
Silver Bracelets (Vintage): I am not a big jewelry person but I love minimal, simple silver bracelets. This look really represents my lifestyle: easy, it is comfortable, it has an edge to it – black always works, it gives you that extra confidence to stroll around about town day or night.
